9/5/07: Self-Sabotage
Pay attention to the ways in which you sabotage yourself. What are the things you tell yourself that limit the expression of your true, glorious and powerful self?
Are you too fat, too ugly, too white, too black? Not good enough, smart enough, talented enough, or maybe just not enough, period? Do you not have enough time, energy or money to do what you really want?
Be aware that these are all excuses for remaining small; they are not reasons of being small, they are merely excuses.
The reason one remains small is fear. It has nothing to do with any of the above excuses.
When we recognize that it is our giving into fear that holds us back and not any of its manufactured excuses, we can press forward despite the excuses it throws at us.
While we can replace the thought of “I am not good enough” with a positive affirmation of “I am good enough,” we can also take action, which often has more powerful results than simply speaking affirmations.
In other words, we don't have to argue or negate the excuse, we simply have to keep moving in the direction we want despite it.
Instead of saying, “I'm not good enough” and stopping short of what we really want to do, we can now say, “I'm not good enough to do this? Ok, well, I'll do it anyway.”
Then go do it and see what happens.
If you hold fast to your determination that you are going to do it despite what fear tells you, the excuses (along with the fear) will eventually subside as they will no longer hold any power over you.
