7/20/07: Know Thyself
To be true to yourself, you must know yourself.
Knowing yourself requires nothing less than taking everything you think you know about yourself and throwing it away.
Undistracted by preconceived ideas, labels, judgments, opinions and titles, you can then be free to open your self to the possibility that you are everything… and nothing.
You are no more a mother than you are a fitness trainer. You are no more an aspiring actress than you are shy and introspective.
These are merely roles, personality traits, titles, fears, goals, dreams, etc., that are used to label and categorize you, keeping you small and distracted from seeing your true self.
Strip away all that you think you know about yourself. All the good and bad things about you; all the things that make you proud of yourself and angry at yourself, just let them all go. Remove all your self-inflicted and socially appointed labels. Remove everything.
Be willing to be nothing.
It is in the nothingness that you will find something very real.
