7/19/07: Move Downstairs
Many of us live in our heads. We view the world from our heads, forming opinions, comparing experiences, analyzing problems and making decisions all from the space behind our eyes.
While the head offers rational, calculated and practical perceptions and solutions, it fails to allow another point of view: the heart's.
The heart sees the world from a different, more human level. The heart feels . It allows. It connects. It doesn't block. Only the head blocks. When people say, “Your heart is not open,” what they really mean is, “Your head is blocking life from getting to your heart.” It is the fear created in our heads that appears to close the heart. But the heart is always open, it never closes.
The heart lives only one moment at a time. It is the head that shifts constantly from past to future, future to past, all the while missing the present moment.
The heart may seem impractical and irrational, but it allows for spontaneous and instinctive responses to life that bring true happiness rather than the head's perception of happiness which is often based on egoic achievements and attainments.
Living in the heart requires courage to let life be, without the need to control or judge.
It requires courage to feel, allow and accept.
Living in the heart transforms us from mental machines to fully stimulated and present human beings. It brings us to life.
Move downstairs. Move out of the head and live from the heart.
