5/16/05: Working for the benefits
For those of you with a stable job, steady income and great
benefits, I have one question for you.
How’s that working for you?
If
you are happy and fulfilled, read no further. If you feel
anything but fulfillment
from your work, today’s
dose is for you.
If you hate your job but stay
because of the “benefits,” what
benefits are you really gaining?
You may think having a stable job brings peace of mind,
but does it really? Do you have peace of mind every morning
when you drag yourself out of bed to go to work?
You may think having a steady income brings security, but
does it really? Do you feel secure?
If you are working at a job for
the “benefits” and
not for the love of it, you have been mesmerized by the illusion
of security and comfort. You have fallen prey to its trap.
Escaping from its grip may be hard, but it is worth it.
Doing
a job for the mere sake of doing it, because you love it
so, reaps far greater benefits than any work you can do
merely to earn a living.
