3/8/07: Past Mistakes
Whatever wrong you have done, it is never too late to take the higher ground.
While you cannot control what has happened in the past, you can control what happens now.
Too often when we have done wrong in the past, we tend to hold onto it with shame, guilt and regret. We carry it with us like a scar into our present and future. We use it to punish ourselves over and over again and we make more wrong choices because of our guilt.
Taking the higher ground now may not change what you did, but it sets the forces in motion to shape the present and future so that past mistakes are not repeated and similar lower ground choices are not made.
Making a choice out of shame, guilt or regret is not taking the higher ground. Take the higher ground by letting go of what you did. Claim responsibility for it (to yourself and to others who may have been affected) and move on. Letting go of the shame, guilt or regret allows you to make better choices out of integrity, strength and love.
