3/5/06: Put off procrastination
Imagine all the things you would do if it weren't for that pesky procrastination.
We all know the detrimental effects of procrastination, yet, no matter how hard we fight against it, we continue to find ourselves putting off actions we know would really benefit us.
So if fighting hasn't worked before, why keep fighting? Why fight it when you can join it and beat it at its own game.
Accept procrastination into your life, acknowledge that you procrastinate and now, make a conscious choice to procrastinate.
When you make a conscious choice to do something, you move from a place of helplessness to a place of power. You regain control over the thing which you once did without thought and felt powerless over.
Now that you can actively and consciously choose to procrastinate, you can choose to procrastinate procrastination. Next time you feel like procrastinating, simply put it off. Instead of putting off doing the things you want to do, put off the procrastination of doing the things you want to do. In other words, choose to procrastinate the procrastination until you finish whatever it is that you need to do.
Sounds confusing, but it's simply a matter of refocusing procrastination, actively choosing what you are going to procrastinate. Being the one in control, you'll find that even procrastination can be procrastinated.
