1/30/05: Being Right
Having to be right is a need of the ego. Having an opinion and
wanting it justified, validated and recognized by others is the
work of the ego. The higher self, the soul, has no use for such
petty matters. The soul knows what is right, and that is enough.
Being right in the ego sense is not what I mean when I write
about doing the right thing. When you argue, debate and otherwise
hound your opinion in another person's throat, you are fighting
for the ego. When you feel as though the other person simply
MUST see your point and negate theirs, you are trying to make
them wrong by being right. Yet, when someone else is wrong and
you are right, it does not make you smarter than, better than
or holier than. It merely makes your ego feel stronger.
Truly being right is not about having the right opinions, thoughts
or beliefs. In reality, there are no right opinions, thoughts
or beliefs. It is merely one person's perception against another's.
Truly being right is about knowing the truth about yourself and
the Universe. It is about acting in accordance to the laws of
the Universe. It is about being a part of a higher whole, a part
that without it, the higher whole could not exist.
When you are in alignment with truly being right, it is sufficient
in and of itself, no one else needs to know.
