1/25/08: Become A Treasure Hunter
Many of us look back into the past with regret, shame and pain. Whether we had one traumatic experience or many, we carry the pain of those experiences with us long after the experience has ended.
While many of us have had painful experiences, the same many of us have had wonderful experiences. Everyone, without exception, no matter how painful their past was, can look back and find joyful moments in it.
Living in the now is ideal but if you insist on carrying your past into your present, why not choose to carry the joy with you instead of the pain?
Think of the past as a treasure cove. Look back into it, dig around for hidden treasures and find all the experiences that moved you in a positive way. You’ll be amazed at what you find when you start digging for treasure.
Keep a notebook and write down all the positive aspects of your past as you remember them. Memories of moments, people, experiences, places, circumstances, etc. will begin to surface more and more as you commit to finding more and more positive aspects.
Before long, you will come to realize that your past was filled with hidden treasures. It was just a matter of digging them up from under all the pain that kept them buried.
